A key member of the salon team, the Staff Trainer is responsible for the growth and development of the next generation of stylists, offering guidance and support, whilst encouraging and motivating the salon team, as well as acting as a mentor to the junior team members. From implementing in-salon training programmes for students of all levels, to organising training times for theory and practical classes, the Staff Trainer provides in-salon training, which relates to the standards set By TONI&GUY. They oversea every area of the stylists training, from improving communication/consultation skillsto product knowledge of the label.m professional haircare range. Setting achievable targets for stylist and monitoring their progress. Staff Trainers work closely with the TONI&GUY Academy, spending time shadowing Educators to see how techniques are taught and varied for the Individual, plus keeping up to date with all TONI&GUY education collections and techniques taught.
Having gained experience as an in-salon staff trainer and successfully completed Art Team training to Creative Direction. Becoming a TONI&GUY Educator is a step towards joining the International Artistic Team and a career within education. Dividing their time between the salon and teaching at the TONI&GUY Academy, it is the responsibility of the Academy Educator to teach students and support the International Artistic Team. Initially an Academy Educator will focus on teaching staff training courses including pre-vadering and then vardering, as educators gain experience in teaching, before progressing to Future Classics and finally advanced courses. Once an Educator has gain all of the experience necessary to join the International Artistic Team, they are selected by the Head of Education to make a presentation of their work and on successful completion of their presentation, they join the TONI&GUY International Artistic Team.
International artistic director
Seen as TONI&GUY’s finest, the International Artistic Team are highly experienced industry professionals at the peak of their career. As an International Artistic Director you will be based at the TONI&GUY Academy and spend your time split between teaching in the London Academy and travelling, teaching at shows and seminars across the world. Major promoters of British hairdressing, the International Artistic Team’s main role is to deliver TONI&GUY’s unique educational system. Working closely with Global Creative Director, Sacha Mascolo-Tarbuck the International Artistic Team also work on numerous creative projects, including the annual global advertising campaign, editorial shoots for key beauty and fashion titles, to major events including TONI&GUY Mainstage and Salon International.
Offering a unique training opportunity, this pivotal role within the Academy structure assists and is mentored by the International Artistic Team at the TONI&GUY Academy, London. They are in part responsible for the Academy running smoothly, working under the direction of the Academy Manager to ensure that it is a clean and beautiful workspace. From setting up and maintaining the tidiness of the class rooms through to ensuring clean towels and gowns are available. They are also required to shampoo and assist with models and morning demonstrations and have the opportunity of one days training per week by a member of the Artistic Team, with an aim of moving towards completion of the TONI&GUY Vardering Course and a career as a qualified TONI&GUY Stylist or Technician.
Senior tutor / assessor
TONI&GUY Tutor/Assessor are fully qualified NVQ assessors, and have a minimum of two years’ experience training and assessing in the salon. A TONI&GUY’s NVQ student's path is moulded and guided by an Assessor. From training and travelling through to delivering education and assessing student’s abilities, they are there every step of the way offering advice to ensure learners are fully informed and familiar with the TONI&GUY process crucial for the hairdressing qualification undertaken. They ensure that the student and salon owner are kept up to date, carrying out a one-to-one session with the learner to establish an individual training plan. They provide continuous support, coaching and feedback to motivate, challenge and inspire their students with the aim of skill set improvement. In, addition assessors carry out reviews with students to identify areas of progress which enables effective planning to succeed, referring to relevant personnel where learning needs are identified. Finally, they actively promote TONI&GUY’s training’s ethos of Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity, Bullying and Harassment and Health, Safety and Wellbeing throughout their journey.
