Strength in Style service for people affected by cancer

We teamed up with the Macmillan Cancer Support team in November 2009 to launch a new expert hair care and advice service for people affected by cancer on the high street. We now have 137 salons trained up nationwide as Strength in Style Consultants to offer men, women and children who are affected by cancer specialist hair care and support. By spring 2014, we are hoping to have over 200 salons across the UK trained up to offer the service.

Our Strength in Style Consultants have undergone intensive training to help them deal with the emotional and practical issues surrounding the sensitive nature of hair loss and hair thinning due to cancer treatment. This also includes specialist training in helping people with choosing, fitting, personalising and cutting wigs and advice on re-growth.

Current TONI&GUY and essensuals salons offering the Strength in Style service are as follows:

To make a Strength in Style appointment, please contact your nearest participating salon and ask to speak with a Strength in Style Consultant. You can then discuss your concerns and needs with the Consultant to agree on a suitable appointment time and length. We are holding four more training courses this year so please do come back to see whether any new salons are offering service in your region.

Strength in Style aims to provide people with a local point of contact to help them deal with hair loss and give them some confidence back. To have this help available on the high street is an important service to people enabling them to be treated with dignity and respect.

More than one in three people get cancer. Two million in the UK are living with it and together we can help Macmillan to help people affected by cancer every step of the way.

Staff in TONI&GUY and essensuals salons will also be fundraising throughout the year to raise money to help Macmillan reach and improve the lives of even more people affected by cancer.
