THE ART OF REVELRY: AHLUWALIA SS27
For me, fashion week is always about understanding the world behind a collection. The clothes, the movement and the feeling all need to come together to create one complete story. At Ahluwalia this season, that story was about the relationship between resistance and joy — and the idea that there is always space for celebration.
I had the pleasure of leading the TONI&GUY Session Team backstage at London Fashion Week, creating the hair looks for Priya Ahluwalia’s SS27 collection, ‘Revel’, at the Rosewood London.
The collection brought together sharp tailoring, military-inspired details and structured silhouettes with flowing organza, fringe and exaggerated volume.
There was a real sense of freedom in the way these references came together. Tailoring, sportswear and eveningwear felt completely at home alongside one another.
Our job was to translate that same energy into the hair.
THE HAIR
The hair was all about strength and softness.
We created really tight, compact ponytails and sculpted silhouettes that gave the hair a sense of control and structure. The movement and softness escaped in the form of a structured but free flowing fringe.
Small curved pieces and delicate details created movement around the head. The tightly pulled ponytail held a sense of tension and restraint, while the softer curves of the fringe brought an unexpected feeling of freedom and joy.
For me, that contrast reflected the collection perfectly. Controlled, but never rigid. Strong, but still soft.
The finish was also very considered. We weren't looking for glass hair or an overly glossy effect.It was about sheen, not shine, allowing the hair to catch the light while still feeling soft and natural.
