For me, fashion week is always about finding that perfect balance. It’s about creating something that feels considered, but never overworked. Polished, but never too perfect. This season at Paul Costelloe, that balance was at the heart of everything we did. I had the pleasure of leading the TONI&GUY Session Team backstage at London Fashion Week, creating the hair looks for William Costelloe’s SS27 collection. The collection explored effortless elegance and fluidity, with beautiful tailoring softened by linen, silk and lightweight cotton. It felt relaxed, refined and very much inspired by the French Riviera. Our job was to translate that feeling into the hair.
THE HAIR
The look was all about soft, polished waves with a subtle sense of movement. Steering away from the beach wave and creating more of a ‘lake’ wave. Moving into a more of an effortless look, as though it had been shaped by the warmth of the Riviera, with just enough refinement to make it feel modern and elevated.
The beauty of this kind of styling is in the detail. The hair needs to look beautiful, but it also needs to move. We created a soft, fluid texture that complemented the collection’s lightweight fabrics.
For me, the most important thing when creating hair for a collection is that it feels like part of the whole story. The hair should enhance the clothes, not compete with them.
