Start your career in hairdressing with TONI&GUY. Designed for those with little to no experience, this course is your first step towards becoming a professional hairdresser. Train with the world-renowned TONI&GUY Artistic Team at the TONI&GUY Academy, developing essential cutting, colouring, styling and consultation skills through hands-on training with mannequin heads and live models.
By the end of the course, you’ll have the technical skills, confidence and professional understanding to work with clients and deliver salon services. You’ll graduate with a globally recognised TONI&GUY Academy Diploma and a City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 qualification in Hairdressing, giving you an internationally recognised foundation for your career.
Your training can be the beginning of your career with TONI&GUY. Once qualified, you may have the opportunity to join the TONI&GUY brand, put your skills into practice, earn as a professional hairdresser and continue developing your career within the industry. Your course includes a £500 professional starter kit, featuring the essential tools you’ll need to begin developing your skills and kick-start your career.​

What are the course fees?
Pricing depends on your chosen route: 8 weeks, colour only — £6,000. 18 weeks, cut only — £10,250. 26 weeks, cut and colour — £15,000. 30 weeks, cut and colour — £16,500. Payment plans available.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. To make your training more accessible, all of our beginner courses can be secured with a £2,500 deposit, with the remaining balance spread across instalments. 8-Week Colour Course Deposit: £2,500 2 monthly instalments of £1,750 18-Week Cutting Course Deposit: £2,500 1 instalment of £2,584 2 instalments of £2,583 26-Week Cut & Colour Course Deposit: £2,500 4 monthly instalments of £3,125 30-Week Cut & Colour Course Deposit: £2,500 4 monthly instalments of £3,500 If you have any questions about payment plans, our admissions team will be happy to talk you through your options.
What's included?
A full City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 certificate on completion, the TONI&GUY Academy diploma, a professional tool kit (scissors, brushes, combs and hairdryer), personal mentoring alongside your peers 5 days a week, and a final catwalk presentation.

What You'll Learn

WEEKS 1-2​ PRACTICAL SALON EXPERIENCE​

Build the essential skills needed to begin your hairdressing journey. You'll learn salon health and safety, client consultation, shampooing, blow-drying, sectioning and styling techniques, alongside braiding, finger waves and hair spa treatments. Through demonstrations, practical sessions and assessments, you'll gain confidence in the core techniques that prepare you for hair cutting.

WEEKS 3–6 Core Hair Cutting Techniques

Develop the foundations of professional hair cutting by learning one-length cuts, graduation, layering, bobs, undercuts and clipper techniques. You'll practise on training blocks before progressing to your first live models, building precision, control and confidence through guided demonstrations and practical training.

WEEKS 7–12 Practical Salon Skills

Put your skills into practice through hands-on workshops using training blocks and live models. You'll refine your cutting, styling and finishing techniques while improving speed, confidence and salon professionalism. Regular tutor feedback, practical assessments and reviews will help prepare you for working in a busy salon environment.

WEEKS 13–18 Salon-Ready Confidence

During the final stage, you'll focus on building consistency, independence and professional confidence. Working predominantly on live models, you'll strengthen your technical ability, client consultation and time management while completing your practical assessments, logbook and end-of-course presentation. By the end of the programme, you'll be ready to progress onto advanced training with a strong foundation in professional hairdressing.
