Join us backstage and front-row at London Fashion Week for ZL by Zlism AW19, where Head of Team Sophie Springett bold, bright braids to compliment the designers contrasting colours in the collection.

What’s the inspiration behind the collection?

For AW19, Zoie Lam’s ZL by ZLISM collection named “Who Am I” takes inspiration from exploring what consumers take from life. Eye-catching prints of explosive shapes represent showing your emotions of happiness and sadness. Bright contrasting colour palettes of neon Greens, fluorescent Orange and Yellow are set against a monogram background.

What’s the inspiration behind the hair?

Sophie and team used the inspiration of genderless, youth-culture as seen in the hi-vis, neon-slogan collection, to create hair which mimicked the colours in the clothes - with a take on 90’s dread-like braids on the girls and textured curtains on the boys.

Step 1

Apply label.m Fashion Edition Wax Spray through roots.
Step 2

Separate hair into box sections throughout and secure with elastic and put into clean, equal, smaller ponytails.
Step 3

Apply label.m Hairspray to add grip, then comb away any evident fly-aways – then place a hairnet over the hair and re-apply more hairspray.
Step 4

Place coloured elastic (Yellow and Green) over the ponytails to match the clothes.
