Known for his elaborate runways full of glamour, Malan Breton previewed LFW on Thursday 11th June with a virtual show event, that was live-streamed to three continents in collaboration with DNABLOCK for his ground-breaking “IMMORTAL” s/s ’21 collection.
Inspired by how the world has changed since COVID-19, the global lockdown unleashed a new sense of heart in Malan, offering a chance to adapt the DNA of his namesake brand, taking it to another realm which celebrates diversity and a globally united community.
Fabrics incorporated an explosion of nature, with fabrics woven using textures of butterfly wings and the artichoke flower, plumeria and ginger. Things that relate to health and a sense of immortality.
In partnership with DNABLOCK, the runway featured CGI designed and developed models whose features and functionality are fully 3D.
TONI&GUY was invited to be the hair partner and International Artistic Director Phillip Haug having worked closely with the designer, chose to complement the collection with three distinct looks: 1. Short, sharp, graphic bob with the bluntest of fringes, 2. A textured cut which is also quite short in length and 3. A 1970’s revival where the front is worn shorter with longer lengths at the back. All these looks were initially cut on mannequins – then later transformed by the genius of CGI – giving a nod to that world of the future.
