Join us backstage and front-row at London Fashion Week for Cassey Gan AW19, where Head of Team Daniele De Angelis creates ponytails with effortless texture, to compliment the collection.

What’s the inspiration behind the collection?

Known for loose-fitting silhouettes, original prints, and lightweight textiles, Cassey Gan explores thicker fabrics for the first time. Her colour pallet of blues, olives, maroons and mustards build the collection alongside wool and padded fabrics, furthering Gan’s textured approach to her luxurious AW19 pieces. The collection uses innovative shapes and heavy layering, but shifts between representation and abstraction as if to unfold something newly felt. Comfort and style are of equal importance for the label - aiming for a timeless modern appeal, Pixelated will focus on metaphor and craftsmanship to achieve the collection’s goals.

What’s the inspiration behind the hair?

This season, the designer evolved her style to be more experimental. Daniele and team worked to create hair that reflected the textural inspiration in the clothes where there was lots of patterns, and a multi-mix of different fabrics. Overall the look was about an effortless, yet feminine twist on a deconstructed ponytail.

Step 1

Apply label.m Volume Mousse and brush the hair out lightly.
Step 2

Dry hair using more label.m Volume Mousse as deemed necessary.
Step 3

Section-by-section, spraying from the back towards the front, apply label.m Texturising Volume Spray and working close to the top area, take a session brush and start to gently back-comb.
Step 4

Put hair into a ponytail at the occipital and secure with elastic band.
Step 5

Tease hair at root with fingers to gently lift and add texture.
Step 6

Brush out tail with a comb, tong to bring out shape and apply a little label.m Hairspray to fix silhouette.
