DB Berdan London Fashion Week AW19

Join us backstage and front-row at London Fashion Week for DB Berdan AW19, where Head of Team Daniele De Angelis creates individual looks for each model, celebrating the diversity of the designer’s collection.

What’s the inspiration behind the collection?

As part of their AW19 collection, DB Berdan explores the issue of double standards within the fashion industry, regarding the treating the LBQT people as token characters, as trophys or spectacles to be observed and celebrated within that world. This almost royal like admiration however isn’t something that is extended into mainstream society where in many cases LBQT people face animosity and mistreatment for merely being themselves. For AW19 DB Berdan wanted to create a safe space for their queer family. This is seen through ramped up 90s silhouettes, which have been transformed into combat style ready to wear pieces in a colour palette of burgundy, light brown and neon green.

What’s the inspiration behind the hair?

International Artistic Director, Daniele De Angelis and the TONI&GUY Session Team embrace each individual model by creating seven different looks to enhance the models natural texture. Neon green hair pieces are incorporated to the hair to add a modernistic element and adhere to the collections controversial nature.

  1. Step 1

    Create a zig-zag parting down the centre of the head.

  2. Step 2

    Apply label.men Texture Wax Stick to parting and hairline to minimise frizz.

  3. Step 3

    Gather hair into two ponytails, either side of the head and secure with elastic.

  4. Step 4

    Tie another elastic at the ends of both ponytails and roll upwards to form a bun. Pin in place.

  5. Step 5

    Spray all over with label.m Hairspray. Place gauze over bun and blow-dry on a hot heat to make solid.

  6. Step 6

    Pin hair pieces randomly around bun.

  7. Step 7

    Take plaited hair piece and pin underneath bun, following the parting upward and secure at top of head.
